Space Scientist Dr. Suvendu Patnaik dispelled eclipse myths ahead of the lunar eclipse occurring on the night of 28 and 29. He clarified that the moon’s disk will be only about six per cent covered and can be observed with the naked eye. Patnaik emphasized that people can go about their normal activities during the eclipse without any harm, as there is no scientific basis for any restrictions. He also mentioned that the next lunar eclipse visible from India is scheduled for September 7, 2025, and it will be a total lunar eclipse. The last lunar eclipse visible from India was on November 8, 2022, and it was a total eclipse. Despite four eclipses in 2024, two solar and two lunar, none of them will be visible from India, according to Patnaik.
